KURI BAY

The Kuri Bay Experience, A new fishing destination

Located around 330km north of Broome, and 220km out from Derby and situated smack in the middle of the Lalang-Garram/Camden Sound Marine Park on the West Kimberley coast the Paspaley Pearling base was built by the Japanese in the 1950s and the bay is named after one of the site’s founders, Tokuichi Kuribayashi.

Up until 2016 the area has been inaccessible to the general public. This fact alone makes Kuri Bay a must do destination.

Peter Tucker (Tux) a well-known Kimberley charter fishing operator and Kimberley guide, a character with 30 years in the industry on the Kimberley coast has, with minimum intervention-transformed Australia’s oldest pearl farm into a world class remote Kimberley fishing charter destination at the invitation of the Paspaley Pearls group.

The fishing is simply astounding!

It is a rare occurrence in this day and age to be able to offer a truly remote and pristine fishery and even more unique from a well-established pearl farm as your base!

The infrastructure provided by Paspaley Pearls at Kuri Bay has a great charm and is set in the most stunning of coast lines.

All this combined makes for one of Australia’s most exciting new Kimberley charter fishing lodges in the remote North West of Western Australia.

The comfort level offered by Kuri Bay considering its isolation is sure to be welcomed by all visiting guests. Access is by Mallard Flying Boat, this is a big highlight of your time at Kuri Bay, flying over two of the Kimberley coasts iconic landscapes, the Horizontal Falls and the Montgomery Reef.

We pride ourselves in our cuisine , your meals are a high light with fresh fish from the days catch prepared differently every evening, Oysters collected by you and home grown greens picked from the local patch.

The vista from the dining room is just mind blowing.

One of the most biologically significant regions of the world, the area’s wildlife is prolific, including, birds, turtles, snubfin dolphins, crocodiles, dingoes, Rock wallabies to name just a few.

Camden Sound is world renowned for its migratory Humpback whales, which start to arrive around late June, a welcome sight whilst fishing the many bays, headlands and creeks. And if you want a break from fishing and kick back you can walk to the lookout or camp dam, explore the surrounding bush, have a swim in the pool, check out the marine life under the jetty or just laze around.

Kuri Bay as a remote Kimberley Charter Fishing Lodge is a must do, if you are a tragic sport fisher or if you just simply wish to touch base with nature at its most pureness from a unique location. We look forward to hosting you.

Tux's knowledge and hospitality is second to none.

The facilities at Kuri Bay are exceptional for a fishing camp.

The amount and variety of fish in the surrounding Kimberley waters have to be seen, to be believed.

A LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE

A Kuri Bay fishing experience is so far removed from everyone's norm that it is life changing.

It exudes: rugged coastal beauty; high action fishing; mateship connections; knowledgeable and skilled guides; and an unbelievably well packaged adventure.
